Journal 1 - Personal Motto

My personal motto for myself is "One day at a time." I chose this motto because it reminds me to take it slow and not rush things. I've had this motto ever since eighth grade when my English teacher asked all of us to make a motto for ourselves. I first got this motto from my favorite singer's Tumblr.

This motto means a lot to me because even if things don't feel like they are right, it'll get better. I still have a lot of time to change things and nothing's ever permanent. It basically means to not worry about what's going to come tomorrow and focus on today. Everyone should focus on today and live in the moment; enjoying life and not taking anything for granted. Don't be too hard on yourself and take it 'one day at a time.'

Why I chose this piece: I chose this journal of mine because it was one of the first I did in English class. I remember that I did this on the first day of school in ninth grade. I also enjoyed writing it very much. This piece shows that I can use this motto to connect to life. It's main theme is to never give up and always have hope.
